Mercston – “Trendin'” (ft. Rapid)
Mercston is looking to make waves again with his new grime banger “Trendin'”, featuring a fellow OG, Rapid from Ruff Sqwad. He fires off double time flows over the energetic riddim, while Rapid joins him on the verses towards the end. The video reflects the fun energy of the tune, combining for a very East London experience.
Jorja Smith – “A Prince” (ft. Maverick Saber)
Jorja Smith, the Walsall-born singer/songwriter, has got another one on her hands. After the release of her incredible “Blue Lights” single (which also made it onto our videos of the week list), she’s back with another beauty. Featuring Maverick Saber, the song juxtaposes her soulful vocals against the gloomy and minimal instrumental. Teh video itself is an animated work of art, making this an undeniable selection.
Youngs Teflon – “93 Till Infinity”
Youngs Teflon gave yet another one of his ‘March Madness‘ tracks a video this week and boy did he do it justice. Seeing as he’s spitting over the classic “93 Till Infinity” instrumental from the Souls Of Mischief, it felt only right that the video would have a nostalgic feel. That’s just what’s been given to us, with a VHS-style editing over the video adding to the 90’s atmosphere.
D Double E – “Grim Reaper”
D Double E released a filthy solo riddim this week, although the pounding beat comes courtesy of fellow Newham General Footsie. The track is explosively dark, making it pretty self explanatory as to where it got it’s title from. The video comes courtesy of director aitchee, who brought all the spooky and scary vibes to life with the camera, as DEE runs riot with a hammer while donning a mask.
TE dness – “Facts” [KatManDu Remix]
West London’s TE dness certainly knows how to do a refix the right way. With a menacing reworking of Kanye West’s “Facts” instrumental, provided by producer KatManDu, he takes to the streets to let everybody know what’s up. Things need to change and he’s the one to do it, talking some serious crud and dropping some insane flows. Just know for a fact, this had to be one of the best music videos of the week.
