Known for his high intellectual ability, physicist Stephen Hawking died at his home in Cambridge in the early hours of the morning aged 76.
British scientist, Stephen Hawking has been championed by not only the British public but many others worldwide since his discoveries of a theory of cosmology and his all around knowledge of the world.
Although being told that he only had one year left to live at the young age of 22 following him being diagnosed with a rare form of motor neurone disease, Professor Hawking proved many wrong, exceeding the life estimation by over 50 years. Despite living the majority of his life very ill and restricted to a wheelchair unable to speak, modern technologies gave the physicist hope as he was given the ability to speak through a voice synthesiser.
Stephen Hawking has led a very fame-worthy life, featuring in a number of television shows including The Big Bang Theory and Red Dwarf to name but a few, as well as the Oscar winning film about his life story, “The Theory of Everything” taking the world by storm.
Since his death, The Motor Neuron Disease Association charity’s website has crashed due to an influx of donations and many notable names have took to social media to express their condolences for the much-loved scientist.
