Netflix is making a move inspired by a Rihanna & Lupita Nyong’o Meme

Have we reached peak 2017?

According to the latest from the Cannes Film Festival, Rihanna and Lupita Nyong’o are set to star in a movie written by Insecure’s Issa Rae and directed by Ava DuVernay, inspired by a viral picture.

After seeing the tweet, both women showed their support for the idea, and now, it looks like the project is actually going to happen thanks to Netflix.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Netflix won the rights to the film after a bidding war at Cannes Film Festival. There hasn’t been any more details released so we aren’t sure whether the film will stick to the original plot (despite how iconic it is), but with Rhi and Lupita together the film is sure to be a success.
