In the last year and a half, the UK scene has blown past the borders and gone fully global. Giggs, Skepta and Stormzy blazed the trail, but more and more artists are now getting that cross atlantic recognition.
The most recent example of this came from Frank Ocean’s most recent episode of his Beats radio show, Blonded.
The sixth instalment of the show, which is also available as a playlist on Spotify, featured south London rap crew House of Pharaohs’ track “Rwm [run With Me]” at the very top of proceedings.
Also featured on the playlist is Stratford’s own J Hus and his tune “Did You See”. Hus has just dropped his debut album Common Sense so it’s super exciting to see the afrobeat rapper getting this kind of international notice.
The unapologetically British track marks yet another case of America jumping on our steeze. Big up Frank for the recognition.
