London artists Little Simz and AJ Tracey are set to be honoured with prestigious awards at this year’s 2020 Association of Independent Music (AIM) Awards.
It has been announced that Little Simz, who is due to perform at the virtual ceremony for the Awards, will receive the Pioneer Award – making her the youngest recipient of the the award.
Speaking on the honour, Simz said: “Delighted to receive the Pioneer Award this year and excited to perform. Big thank you and love to AIM Awards!”
Also performing at the ceremony is AJ Tracey and he is also set to receive a big award in the form of the Innovator Prize.
“Being an independent artist is incredibly important to me and winning this award is a huge honour,” AJ said of the award. “I’m a massive fan of those who have received this before me so it really means a lot.”
The 2020 AIM Award ceremony will also include a special live set to honour the late afrobeat pioneer Tony Allen, who will receive an award for Outstanding Contribution To Music.
