It has officially been announced that Mike Tyson is going to make a big return to boxing in an 8-round exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr on September 12.

Set to take place at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, the fight will be 54-year-old Tyson’s first boxing match since 2005.

The fight will also be available to view on social media platform Triller and will include live performances from big artists.

Speaking on the fight, Andy Foster – the executive director of the California State Athletic Commission, said the two fighters won’t be wearing headgear but will be wearing bigger gloves than usual.

“This isn’t a situation where they’re going out there to try to take each other’s heads off,” Foster told Yahoo Sports.

“They’re just going to be in there moving around the ring and letting fans see these legends.”

Tyson’s last fight was against Kevin McBridge on June 11 2005 while Jones, 51, hasn’t fought since February 8 2018.
