Some very important new news about Power has just been revealed.
Fans of the dark New York set series starring Omari Hardwick, Rotimi and 50 Cent will be excited to learn that the first spin-off series has been announced and will star r&b legend, Mary J. Blige.
The “Be Without You” and “Family Affair” vocalist and Oscar nominee will star in Power Book II: Ghost which is currently in pre-production and was announced by the show’s creator Courtney Kemp on Friday.
Courtney said that Power Book II: Ghost will “continue the journey of some of Power‘s most controversial characters” and the show is expected to arrive onscreen following the end of the sixth season.
On her casting, Mary J Blige said, “I’ve known so many Tashas, I’ve known so many Ghosts. I’ve dated so many Ghosts. I’m a huge fan for life, and I’m so grateful to be a part of it”.
It was also announced that the final season of Power will be split into two parts. The first ten episodes will air weekly starting in August and fans will have to wait until January for the final five episodes which will conclude the season.
The sixth season will also see the show’s executive producer and former star 50 Cent direct an episode of the show.
