Deontay Wilder retained his WBC world heavyweight title in New York last night after a first-round knockout of Dominic Breazeale.

43 seconds into the match, Wilder finished the fight with a huge right hand, taking his record to 41 wins and a draw from 42 bouts.

It was Wilder’s 40th victory by knockout and the second loss for Breazeale after his 2016 defeat by Anthony Joshua.

After this win, Wilder has now defended his title for the ninth time, becoming the 10th man to achieve the title in consecutive fights within the heavyweight division.

Breazeale left the ring without talking to the media. When Wilder was asked about potential British fights after his victory, he said “no doors are closed” and fights “are in discussion…all parties involved are talking” with opponents such as Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

Watch Wilder discuss a possible fight with AJ below.
