Welcome back to The Plug, your only definitive guide to the best music out of our scene, every single week. Last week, we had the triumphant return of Stormzy with his new stomper “Standard”, as well as some shots at his throne from Cadell. This week it’s 7 more tracks of rap and grime heaven, with our guy Griff‘s choices including heat from Chip, Frisco and even our very own CEO Posty. We’ve also included the full playlist at the bottom for you too, as always. Really, we’re The Plug.

Chip – Bookey

Over some creeping trap production, Chip shows just how “Bookey” everyting is on his latest track. The levels to his bars are upped once again, Chip dumps on rap just like he dumps on grime, still determined to prove just how vicious on the mic he can be. Taken from his ‘Believe & Achieve Part 2’ EP, “Bookey” is one of Chip’s strongest bangers yet.

AJ Tracey – Bare Girls (ft. Jammz)

AJ Tracey is fast becoming one of the best new gen representatives of real grime, delivering banger after banger at 140bpm. His tune “Bare Girls”, featuring fellow new don Jammz, is lifted from his ‘Alex Moran’ EP (which you can cop for free here) and is packed full of quotable bars over a live and booming instrumental. Don’t forget to check our interview with AJ for New Wave Wednesday’s here too.

Hardy Caprio – Soundbwoy Two

Hardy Caprio may still be a young MC, but the Croydon native certainly knows about grime nostalgia. His new track “Soundbwoy Two”, a sequel to one of his most popular early tracks, takes influence from some of the earliest days of grime, with a sound that would fit in 2005 as much as it does 2015. Expect big things from him soon.

Paigey Cakey – Let’s Get Em Drunk

Although her dargs might be serious, Paigey Cakey certainly isn’t as she pours out some bottles for her and her team just for fun. “Let’s Get Em Drunk” has a sing-song vibe, with verses and a chorus full of melody without entirely losing the rapped delivery. It’s a good blend of influences and one that is certified to please the mandem and the girls too.

TE dness – Bumping (ft. Big 6ix, Solo & Blittz)

If you don’t know about West London’s TE dness yet, then what rock have you been hiding under? He’s back with another sick song, a street single that has him breaking up bricks into ounces and flipping ’em into houses. To top it all off, he brings round a couple of familiar boys with him too, Big 6ix, Solo and Blittz all checking in for guest appearances.

Frisco – Different Kind (ft. Shakka)

After low key releasing a handful of the most fire grime songs of this year, Frisco is back with something a little different. Alongside the always amazing Shakka, who delivers another catchy hook, Frisco brings his bars to a guitar laden beat, making for a track that feels like it could have a serious crossover appeal. This one is just different.

Posty – Sorry I Was Bored

Finishing off this week’s choices is a very special guest. Our very own top donny Posty surprised us all, by dropping a freestyle over Ghetts and Rude Kid’s “One Take” this week, and it puts a lot of rappers to shame. Taking aim at some washed man, as well as taking some moments to finesse himself and the future of GRM, we’re not even being biased when we say this is one of the most flames tracks of the week. Or at least not THAT biased.
