AC Milan have just been banned from participating in next season’s Europa League tournament after breaching Financial Fair Play rules.

The news was broken by the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS).

In a statement, CAS said: “AC Milan is excluded from Uefa club competitions of the sporting season 2019-2020.”

The decision came after the Uefa accussed the club of violating spending regulations, an accusation which the CAS has supported by ruling in favour of the football governing body.

In the 2018-2019 season in Series A which has just come to an end, AC Milan had finished fifth and  were expecting to compete in the forthcoming Europa League.

Uefa are also reportedly seeking to ban Manchester City from next season’s Champions League for similar FFP violations.
