A former Arsenal player has made headlines by purchasing the trademark rights to the term “Invincibles”, a name synonymous with the club’s legendary 2003-04 season.

Jens Lehmann, who played a pivotal role in that iconic campaign, acquired the trademark for £30,000 in 2022.

With the 20th anniversary of Arsenal’s unbeaten season fast approaching, Lehmann recognised the increasing popularity of the term and decided to secure its rights. As a result, he now possesses the legal authority to prevent any other entity, including Arsenal itself, from using the term “The Invincibles”.

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, Lehmann revealed his plans to establish a company alongside his former teammates and coaching staff, including iconic manager Arsene Wenger.

Their venture aims to organise events and offer commemorative items to honour the historic achievement. Additionally, there has been interest from production companies to create a documentary about the legendary Arsenal side.

Arsenal’s club shop currently sells “Invincibles” merchandise, prompting questions about potential conflicts.

Addressing this, Lehmann acknowledged the merchandise’s popularity but indicated that discussions about potential actions regarding the club’s use of the term have yet to take place.
