A recent medical report reveals that the average penis size in the UK has increased by nearly 10 percent since 2022.
This surprising statistic shows that just two years ago, the national average was 5.17 inches when erect, compared to 5.63 inches in 2024. This 8.9 percent increase now ranks the UK eighth in terms of penis growth, though overall size ranks the country 60th globally.
Dr. Chun Tang, medical director at Pall Mall Medical, attributes the rise in size to several factors. He explains that evolutionary pressures may be playing a role, with traits like larger genitalia potentially being selected more often for reproduction. Additionally, Dr. Tang points to increased immigration and genetic diversity as contributing factors, as populations intermix, leading to variations in body size.
Environmental factors like improved health, nutrition and fitness also play a significant role. “Better physical development, including genital growth, can result from improved nutrition and health during childhood and teenage years,” Dr. Tang notes. Exercise, which boosts hormone production, particularly testosterone, during puberty, is another factor linked to physical development, including penis size.
However, the data for these findings are partly based on self-reported measurements, which may introduce some inaccuracies.
Dr. Tang warns that societal pressures regarding size can lead to psychological issues, such as penile dysmorphic disorder, commonly known as “small penis anxiety.”
Despite these concerns, scientific evidence continues to show that size is not the most important factor when it comes to sexual health and satisfaction.
