Bashy has released “Being Poor Is Expensive”, the third single from his upcoming album of the same name.
Drawing inspiration from Jamaican sound systems, the track features the distorted basslines that defined his youth.
“‘Lover’s Rock’ was always playing in my Dad’s red BMW or as my mum cooked ackee and saltfish,” Bashy recalls, emphasising Dennis Brown’s influential voice. The song’s intro is sweet and melodic, transporting listeners to family gatherings before the heavy beat drops, reflecting the harsh realities outside.
