The BBC have been left red-faced today, as they’ve had to apologise for their Match of the Day coverage last night, which was interrupted by loud pornographic noises midway through.

In the pre-coverage of the FA Cup 3rd round replay game between Wolves and Liverpool, host Gary Lineker attempted to segue from their studio discussion to Alan Shearer’s insight pitchside.

However, he was taken aback – and visibly trying to hold in laughter – when an extremely loud groaning orgasm sound filled the studio and continued for several moments.

According to his social media, Lineker said they shortly thereafter found a hidden mobile phone taped to the back of a seat on set, which was responsible for the sounds.

A BBC spokesperson said in a tweet, “We apologise to any viewers offended during the live coverage of the football this evening. We are investigating how this happened.”

Whilst they may wish to sweep this under the rug, unfortunately the internet has already had a field day with the incident, which is being dubbed as one of the greatest live television faux pas of all time.
