Despite being banned from over 100 cinemas across the UK, Rapman’s highly-anticipated Blue Story enjoyed a massive opening weekend at the box office, grossing over £1.3 million since being released on Friday (November 22).

Rapman announced the takings for the movie on Twitter, writing:  “We lost nearly half of our screens on the 3rd day but we still made history with 1.3M in 3 days. @BlueStoryMovie
is no.3 in the UK box office. Thank you.”

As well as grossing £1.3 million in three days, Rapman’s film is currently the third best grossing film of the weekend, behind the likes of Frozen 2 and Last Christmas.

News of Blue Story’s successful opening weekend comes a day after Vue and Showcase banned the film from its cinemas after reports of an unrelated disturbance at a cinema in Birmingham.

Several famous faces took to social media to react to the banning of the film, with many accusing Vue and Showcase of racial discrimination.

However, Blue Story still continued to be a hit with fans judging by its first weekend takings – a testament to Rapman and everyone involved in the creation of the movie!
