UK Prime minister Boris Johnson has been moved into the intensive care unit after his condition has worsened, following testing positive for COVID-19.
Boris Johnson was taken to hospital on Sunday as a “precautionary step” and advice taken from his doctor.
Following persistent symptoms, the UK PM has now been moved to the intensive care unit, Downing Street has confirmed.
Prior to this Boris, has been said to be in “good spirits” and was said to still be leading the government with efforts to combat the virus; however, now given the circumstances, Foreign Secretary will now deputise “where necessary”.
Downing Street said in a statement: “”Over the course of this afternoon [April 6], the condition of the prime minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the intensive care unit at the hospital.
“The prime minister has asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who is the First Secretary of State, to deputise for him where necessary.”
