Sometimes it feels like we’re only going backwards.

There was outrage on Twitter today, as the official account for the British Army sent out a more than questionable tweet.

They posted a photo of a soldier in full camouflage pulling an odd face, perhaps innocently. The caption however suggests differently, and read “Being a #soldier in the jungle requires a robust sense of humour.”

What exactly was the joke there, British Army?

People were quick to take offence to the tweet, before it got swiftly deleted. Obviously this is the internet though and plenty of early birds managed to get a screen grab.

An official British Army spokesman told the Mirror, “The content of the tweet shows a picture of a soldier wearing camouflage and concealment measures, standard for jungle training in Belize.

“We can see how the tweet may have been misinterpreted, have immediately removed it and apologise for any offence it may have caused.”

This is just the latest case in a high-profile slip up relating to blackface, a month or so after Moncler released some very suspect coats.
