A cash machine in an area of East London experienced a glitch, leading to customers receiving double the money they requested.

Dozens flocked to the NatWest ATM after footage of the incident circulated online. The bank attributed the issue to a “one-off manual error”, clarifying that “a number of transactions at one ATM dispensed more cash than the requested amount.”

The ATM, in East Ham, has been repaired and customers can now use it normally.

A spokesperson for Natwest confirmed, “Due to a one-off manual error, a number of transactions at one ATM dispensed more cash than the requested amount. This has since been fixed and customers can use this ATM as normal.”

This follows a similar recent incident where NatWest customers reported going overdrawn due to problems with cash deposit machines, raising concerns about potential fees. The bank assures that the latest glitch has also been resolved.
