From five of his tracks making it into the UK Top 10, one number 1 single, his debut album PsychoDrama topping the album charts – to even a viral Glastonbury performance – Dave has definitely had a massive year so far.

The south London rapper picked up two of the biggest prizes at the infamous AIM Independent Music Awards last night. Not only did he secure a win of ‘Best Independent Album’ but the 21-year-old rapper picked up ‘Best Independent Track’ for his number one hit, ‘Funky Friday’ featuring Fredo.

The awards this year were hosted by Lauren Laverne at Camden’s Roundhouse in celebration of independent music labels and artists, with artists such as AJ Tracey, Afro B, Little Simz and Jorja Smith receiving nominations. Previous winners have included Stormzy, Adele and Radiohead.

Dave also secured the win last night at the GQ Men of the Year Awards for Breakthrough Music Act Award in which he thanked Stormzy in his acceptance speech.

The Streatham native is also nominated for this year’s Mercury Prize, with the winner set to be announced later this month.
