Defenders Entertainment, the team partly responsible for inking the deal with OVO that lead to Kyla appearing on Drake’s “One Dance”, have just made an industry power move.

They’ve signed a deal with Sentric Music, a company best known as a publisher for DIY songwriters. It will see tha launch of a similar service, offering rights management services to upcoming urban writers and producers.

As well as this, the two companies will collaborate on signing publishing deals with new writers, producers and artists.

Defenders Entertainment MD Corey Johnson said, “It was the only option for Defenders Ent and DMMP. There needs to be more transparency around YouTube, SoundCloud and live revenues and Sentric provides that.

“Helping to bring Sentric’s core system and 28 day contract model to grime, rap, dancehall, afrobeat and other urban genres is not only an honour, but a massive responsibility.”
