Doing Numbers: The Official Christmas Number One & Ramz charts high

23 December 2017

So, the time is finally here. After weeks of speculating, the official 2017 Christmas number 1 has been announced. Hats off to the boy wonder Ed Sheeran who has managed to secure not only the number 1 spot with his track “Perfect”, but also has only gone and taken the number 2 spot with his feature on Eminem’s latest track, “River”. Although it’s perhaps not as underdog of a winner as we may have liked, it would seem Ed is one of the most likeable guys in the industry, across the spectrum of genres, so good on him for an amazing achievement. Let’s see where more homegrown talent charted in the final Christmas race.

Firstly, a big congratulations is due to Ramz, whose track insanely catchy track “Barking” is in at number 17 this week from last week’s 27th place. The visuals for this one were released right here on GRMDaily and we’re very gassed for him. In case you missed it, remind yourself of the banger here.

Amongst the influx of cheesy Christmas tunes, salute to Dave. He is still in the top 30 at 26 with “No Words” featuring MoStack produced by man of the moment Steel Banglez. Talking of MoStack, he and Mist have been cooking up some grime in the studio. Pree the clip released through socials this week right here.

Stormzy has won artist of year acclaim throughout mainstream and underground platforms this year and rightfully so. His Gang Signs and Prayer album is still going strong at number 53 after a staggering 43 weeks in the charts. After a mad amount of support the beautiful “Blinded for Your Grace Part II” is at 33 this week. Be sure to check the moving visuals for that one.

The biggest congratulations however has to go to Big Shaq. Global sensation, Rated Award winner and roadman, he has absolutely blown everyone away with the success of “Mans not Hot”. We called it from early but he’s smashed expectations and is at number 6 of the chart this week, climbing again from last weeks 8. Michael Dapaah has definitely had the year of his life and we’re sure there’s more amazing achievements on the horizon for him. To get you in the Christmas spirit, here’s the festive remix of “Mans not Hot”.

Here’s to another year of incredible projects from the finest in UK talent!
