After a relatively quiet final quarter in 2017, a new, never before heard Drake track has leaked online.

The track, “Pistols” – a smooth, Spanish infused lick carrying a playful cadence – appeared all over Soundcloud on Christmas eve and is supposedly produced by OVO in-house mastermind Noah “40” Shebib. Though the track is clearly an unfinished product, it once again showcases Drake’s experimental nature, something which became more prevalent after the release of his 2017 playlist More Life, a project which saw Drake dabble with more up-tempo contemporary cultural sounds.

The new upcoming calendar year is set to be an anticipated one musically and with Drake promising to be “back in 2018” with the summary, listeners worldwide are eagerly expecting another Drake studio LP.

Following the final Australian and New Zealand legs of his mammoth “Boy Meets World” tour, the Toronto poster boy has been locked in the studio with Pierre Bourne, with speculation over a possible collaboration in the near future. The producer, who worked heavily on Playboi Carti’s debut album recently served as a supporting act for Drake, alongside Boi-1da in a partnership which concluded his long haul tour.
