Amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the subsequent military action, EA Sports has confirmed that Russia’s national team and domestic league have been removed from FIFA 22.

The statement released by EA today comes to the defence of Ukraine and supports the actions of FIFA and UEFA.

“EA Sports stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and like so many voices across the world of football, calls for peace and an end to the invasion of Ukraine,” the statement reads.

“In line with our partners at FIFA and UEFA, EA Sports has initiated processes to remove the Russian national team and all Russian clubs from EA Sports FIFA products”.

The statement concludes: “We will keep our communities up to date on any actions taken, and thank players for their patience as we work through these updates”.

The announcement comes in the wake of Russian teams being suspended from FIFA and UEFA competitions. This has seen the removal of Russia from the World Cup Play-Off and Spartak Moscow from the Europa League.
