Ed Sheeran is having a great week. He just launched his own record called Gingerbread Man Records, which will be a subsidiary of Warner Music. He already has even signed his first artist, Jamie Lawson.
Now Ed has been given the crown for the top musician in America for the first time on the Billboard Artist 100 chart. He pushes Luke Bryan to No.2, who hit the summit in his 59th week.
“The Artist 100 measures artist activity across Billboard’s most influential charts, including the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, Top Album Sales and the Social 50. The Artist 100 blends data measuring album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.” – Billboard.
Ed Sheeran has hit No.1 in his 60th week, where he had 94% gain in overall activity and it has been highlighted that his album sales had gone up by 339%. He even ranked top 20 for each week since the premier of the chart in July 19, 2014. His single “Photograph” is No.15 on the Hot 100 at the moment.
Long live King Ed!
