Twitter’s billionaire owner Elon Musk has unveiled plans to change the app’s iconic bird logo.
Taking to Twitter today (July 23), Musk wrote: “And soon we shall bid adieu to the twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds”. He added: “If a good enough X logo is posted tonight, we’ll make (it) go live worldwide tomorrow.”
After posting an image of a flickering “X”, Musk replied “Yes” when asked if the Twitter logo will change in a Twitter Spaces audio chat.
Since buying Twitter back last October, Musk has made several changes to Twitter such as changing the company’s business name to X Corp which reflects his vision of establishing a “super app” like China’s WeChat.
Twitter recently received backlash after it announced it would limit how many tweets various accounts can read per day. The move aided the rapid growth of Meta’s Threads app which saw over 100 million users sign up within five days of launch.
