Facebook users in the US can now use the social media network as a dating service, complete with specialised profiles and a matchmaking algorithm.
Facebook Dating lives within the existing Facebook app, but in order to use it, you have to set up a separate profile. The only information which is carried over from your regular Facebook account is your name and age.
The service presents the users with potential matches which are based on your location, indicated preferences, along with other factors.
You can also choose to match people who are attending the same Facebook events or who are a part of the same Facebook group. However, the one thing that it won’t be showing is your Facebook friends – that option has been switched off by default.
In addition to the US, the dating service is also available in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Paraguay, the Philippines, Singapore, Suriname, Thailand, Uruguay and Vietnam.
Facebook users in Europe will have to wait until early 2020 to gain access to the new feature.
