Officials in Germany have achieved one of the biggest drug hauls in history after confiscating cocaine worth over 1 Billion in euros.

At four tonnes in weight, the drugs were being transported to Hamburg from Uruguay on its way to Belgium.

The drugs were labelled as soya beans and were disguised in 200 black bags and placed into a shipping container. The 200 bags contained 4,200 smaller pressed packets of the drug.

On the haul, the Hamburg Customs Agency said in a statement, “This enormous amount represents the largest single seizure of cocaine in Germany. The confiscated cocaine was destroyed under strict and extensive security measures Assuming that this likely high-purity cocaine can be cut to triple the amount for street sale, the 4.5 tonnes has a street value of approximately €1 billion”.
