The avenging of Harambe has begun. A gorilla has been wreaking havoc today after breaking out of his enclosure at London Zoo, with heavily armed police and keepers in hot pursuit.
Visitors were (ironically) locked up whilst the west lowland silverback, Kumbuka, roamed freely around the zoo, perhaps trying to find a decent smoothie and the nearest exit. Of course, visitors were live-tweeting the event
Kumbuka is said to be the ‘lead male’ in the zoo and has smashed the enclosure glass previously in an attempt to escape. Many have hailed his attempted departure as an ode to Harambe, the primate at Cincinnati Zoo which was sadly shot dead earlier this year after a young boy fell into its enclosure.
Kumbuka was found by police an hour after his escape, safely recaptured and returned begrudgingly to his enclosure.
