J. Cole, or as others would call him ‘Mr. Platinum with no features’, has announced that he will be taking a break from offering guest features to other artists.

Cole featured on Gang Starr’s first track in 16 years entitled “Family and Loyalty” and branded this last collaboration as an “honour”.

Gang Starr member DJ Premier controls the track which includes a new unheard verse from the late rapper Guru who passed away from cancer in 2010.

On the track, DJ Premier said, “This record means so much to me, it’s a continuation of what I never wanted to end. It’s a very foreign place for me and very emotional. I get happy, sad, excited; my feelings are kind of all over the place. But predominantly, just very happy to be making music with Guru again”.

There is no doubt in saying Cole has been putting in the work recently despite the fact that this may be his last ever collaborative effort. Reigning over his Dreamville Records imprint and of course, brewing a storm alongside fellow rappers Young Thug and Travis Scott, the single “London” was just one addition to his recent repertoire. Other projects include tracks with Lute, Da Baby and 21 Savage.
