As of 1Xtra MC month, BBC Radio 1Xtra have been enlisting the help of artists from Nick Brewer, Post Malone, Bonkaz, Youngs Teflon and Newham Generals to drop by and cover a track – think “Live Lounge” with MCs! Notable performances have seen Fekky drop some bars over 50 Cent’s “Many Men” and Big Narstie slowing things down with his rendition of “Bump N’ Grind” by R. Kelly. Today saw East London’s J Hus step and deliver his take on Blu Cantrell and Sean Paul’s 2003 hit “Breathe”.

Now we know that on first impression, it might not be quite clear as how it would all come together but it really does! With a stripped back instrumental involving guitars and a keyboard, Hus goes over the beat and drops his trademark flows, complete with ad-libs and sound effects. The track is a display of what J Hus is capable of and what he has yet to achieve in the game. With his mixtape ‘The 15th Day” doing the rounds, a number of impressive tracks [“Friendly“, “No Lie”] showing his talent and a 2015 MOBO nomination [for Best Newcomer] already under his belt, J Hus is sure to have a successful 2016.

J Hus also dropped a performance of his track “Lean & Bop” and wasn’t shy to break out a few dance moves.
