The film has been a hit with fans since its release last month and now there are already talks regarding a sequel for Joker.
Joaquin Phoenix – who plays Joker in the movie – recently spoke on the possibility of a follow-up film in the future.
Speaking to The Envelope, Phoenix said: “I wouldn’t just do a sequel just because the movie is successful, that’s ridiculous.”
Despite this, the star also revealed there were talks of a sequel between him and the film’s director – Todd Phillips – prior to the release of the original in October. He said: “Long before the release or before we had any idea if it would be successful, we talked about sequels.”
The new comments from Phoenix come after Phillips himself recently spoke on a sequel, saying he “would do anything with [Phoenix], any day of the week.
Joker is set to become the highest grossing R-rated film of all time so if a sequel was to be released, we can expect the movie to be just as big.
