After taking some time out from solo releases, Kendrick Lamar has finally announced his long-awaited fifth studio album titled Mr Morale & The Big Steppers.
The Compton star revealed the title of the album and its May 13 release date on Twitter today, replying to a user speculating his retirement.
When users click on the link in Kendrick’s tweet, they’re taken to a statement that reads: “The following statement was released today by oklama, through his company pgLang at 11:00 a.m. PT in Los Angeles, CA […] Album: ‘Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers […] Release date: 5/13/2022.
“All factual information for this release will come directly from this source only.”
Mr Morale & The Big Steppers serves as the follow-up to Kendrick’s 2017 album DAMN. which went on to win the Pulitzer Prize For Music.
A year later he curated and featured on the Black Panther soundtrack but has pretty much remained off the radar since then.
He has, however, made quite a few guest features and recently featured on Baby Keem’s singles “Range Brothers” and “Family Ties”.
In August last year, he announced his next album – which has now been revealed to be Mr Morale & The Big Steppers – will be his last album with Top Dawg Entertainment.
Anticipation has been high for Kendrick Lamar’s fifth album and in less than a month fans will finally be able to take it in in full.
