In a moving spoken word piece created for Father’s Day, 1Xtra presenter Mim Shaikh opens up about his experiences of (No) Father’s Day, dedicating his words and visual to others getting through Father’s Day without theirs.
Accompanying the emotional visual Mim says, “Happy Father’s Day to everyone celebrating today, every year this day comes around and I can’t help but think where is the man that helped bring me into this world? I’ve spoken my purest, honest and most intimate thoughts and truths about growing up without knowing who your Father is, in this spoken-word piece called ‘No Father’s Day’ – if you know anyone who can relate to the words, please do share… this one’s dedicated to everyone, like me… celebrating ‘NO FATHER’S DAY!'”
This definitely took a lot of bravery and brought tears all round, a piece to which so many can relate.
