Netflix has announced plans to move into the world of gaming!

The streaming giant revealed the move in a letter to its investors, which has been seen by The Wrap.

“We view gaming as another new content category for us, similar to our expansion into original films, animation and unscripted TV,” the letter reads.

“Games will be included in members’ Netflix subscription at no additional cost similar to films and series.”

The letter also adds that the platform will begin by focusing on providing mobile games, which could launch as early as next year.

Last week Netflix hire ex-EA and Facebook executive Mike Verdu who will lead the platform’s expansion into gaming.

Netflix’s venture into the video game world came after it reported theaddition of just 1.5 million subscribers in the April-June quarter – the slowest growth for eight years.

The company said it will “continue to focus on improving our service for our members and bringing them the best stories from around the world.”
