Applications are now being accepted for the second year of Power Up – the initiative dedicated to supporting Black music creators and industry professionals.
Launched last year, the Power Up Participant Programme launched to address the barriers faced by those at crucial stages in their career to create a fairer music industry, achieve better representation and shine a light on the work of Black creators.
Just like it did last year, the 2022 Power Up initiative will transform the lives of 40 participants – 20 Black music creators and 20 Black industry professionals – through support such as mentoring, networking, development masterclasses, grants of up to £15,000 and more.
The participants from year 1 of the programme include Ego Ella May, Dapz on the Map, Despa Robinson Taaliah and more.
Yaw Owusu, Senior POWER UP Manager at PRS Foundation said: “It’s been amazing to see the positive impact and outcomes of the inaugural POWER UP participant programme on the careers and activities of the cohort.
“It has been so fulfilling to see measurable change – whether that has been the exchange of essential information and ideas, projects and ambitions being fulfilled, support and inspiration being shared, or new networks and work being created.”
Applications for year 2 of the Power Up initiative are open now, with the deadline to apply being on February 17th.
