Prince Andrew and his accuser, Virginia Giuffre, have reached an out of court settlement over a civil sexual assault case, according to court documents.
In a letter submitted to the United States District Court today (February 15) by Ms Giuffre’s lawyer David Boies and the Duke of York’s lawyers, they said the parties involved have “reached a settlement in principle”.
Court documents also show the duke will make a “substantial donation to Ms Giuffre’s charity in support of victims’ rights”.
Prince Andrew has also vowed to “demonstrate his regret for his association with Epstein” by supporting the “fight against the evils of sex trafficking, and by supporting its victims”.
Ms Giuffre had sued the Duke of York, claiming he sexually assaulted her on three occasions when she was 17 after being trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew has always denied the allegations.
