Happy Platinum Jubilee!
To celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s 70 years on the throne, the UK has been given a special bank holiday weekend. In a statement, the palace said last year, “Her Majesty The Queen will celebrate her Platinum Jubilee from Thursday 2nd – Sunday 5th June 2022. The weekend will provide an opportunity for communities across the UK to come together to celebrate this historic milestone.”
Events across the UK will be taking place across the bank holiday weekend and in the spirit of the time, many brands and hospitality venues are offering special events and deals to customers.
One pub chain for example is offering punters pints for just 6p as this was the price of a pint when Elizabeth ascended to the throne back in 1952.
“The platinum jubilee is a fantastic way for the UK to come together and celebrate our Queen and country, so we wanted to take our customers back to where it all began – 1952, a time when Vera Lynn ruled the charts and pints were only 6p.We can’t wait to see our customers enjoy this royally good deal on Monday 30 May, and look forward to celebrating the platinum jubilee in all our pubs across the bank holiday weekend,” said marketing director at Greene King Local Pubs Andrew Gallagher.
