South London songstress Ray BLK has released a brand-new single dubbed “Dark Skinned”.
As the title of the track suggests, Ray BLK’s latest offering is centred around her complexion and sees her deliver a message of resilience and empowerment. With lines such as “I won’t be judged by society”, Ray uses the track to let it be known that she will overcome any hurdle in her way to achieve her goals.
“This song is for the underrepresented, the over plagiarised and uncredited,” Ray BLK wrote when announcing the song on Instagram. “This song is a celebration of my melanin. A lot of people told me it would be hard to succeed in this industry because of the colour of my skin, but I refuse to feed into that ideology.”
“I believe that no matter the situation, we shine regardless! This song is for those the world keeps saying no to. Never stop saying YES to yourself!”
