Producer and DJ Rockwell has enlisted south-east London’s Novelist to create a brand-new single titled “Peak”.
With Rockwell on the buttons creating a hard-hitting instrumental and Novelist coming through with lyricism just as punchy, this collaboration is a hard-hitting one that the pair use to hit out at the government amid the cost of living crisis.
Novelist doesn’t mince his words on “Peak”, rapping: “The price of everything is going up, I’ve had to add another zero to my fee I’ve had enough”. He also raps: “The government don’t care about a thing, they don’t want to see or hear a brother win”.
Speaking on the collaboration, Rockwell said: “With a couple of my more recent productions I’ve been trying to strip things back, taking a more considered approach to adding elements and ensuring that everything that makes the cut its integral to the track.
“I struggle to articulate how much of an honour for me it is to collaborate with Novelist on “Peak” and from the recording session we did, the bars mirrored the instrumental and came together in an effortless fashion”.
