The winners of this year’s Royal Television Society Programme Awards have been revealed!
The ceremony for the awards took place in London last night (March 29) to recognise “programmes which have made a positive contribution to their genre”.
During the night it was announced comedian and presenter Mo Gilligan won in the ‘Comedy Entertainment’ category for his Channel 4 programme, The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan. The wins didn’t stop there for Mo as he also scooped up two more awards in the ‘Entertainment’ and ‘Entertainment Performance’ groups for hosting The Big Breakfast alongside AJ Odudu.
Another comedian picking up a prize at the RTS Programme Awards was Munya Chawawa whose YouTube series, Race Around Britain, was acknowledged in the Presenter category. The judges said the show “skilfully unpacks serious points with a light and mischievous touch, making tricky subject matter really accessible.”
Awards were also given to the likes of David Harewood, Samson Kayo and the BBC’s powerful documentary Uprising, while the late Jamal Edwards was honoured by the RTS.
