Coming through with their first single of the year titled “Pushin'” is Nigerian-born, UK-based artist Shae Universe.
Fusing R&B and drill comes easy to Shae Universe and this is something she exhibits once again on “Pushin'”, laying down her soulful vocals on the riffs, 808s and synth patterns which make up the upbeat instrumental.
“”Pushin” was written with ease,” Shae said of the song. “It flowed so naturally because it was a subconscious premonition of certain relationships that would come to an end in my life.
“I didn’t know it at the time I wrote the song but soon enough I saw the coherence manifest in my life. Cheers to honouring your boundaries and dropping dead weight!”
In an interview with Pause HER last year, Shae Universe teased “a body of work (or multiple)” in the near future so hopefully a project will be released from the talented singer-songwriter very soon.
