Sir Bobby Charlton, one of the giants of English football has tragically passed away aged 86.

The legendary England, and Manchester United footballer who was most famously part of the 66′ team that won England’s only football World Cup has died. The family has said that he passed on peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of this morning.

His incredible legacy will outlive him, getting 103 caps for England and scoring 49 goals, and 758 games for Manchester United and scoring 249 records, which were records that were only surpassed many years later by new age legends Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs respectively.

Outside of his illustrious playing career, he was part of the board of directors for 39 years at Manchester United and he set up the Sir Bobby Charlton Foundation which helped removing landmines from former war zones.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Bobby’s family during this difficult time.
