Stormzy is widely recognised as one of the top artists in the country. Everything he touches turns to gold, and when he’s gone, the scene isn’t the same. Luckily for us as he preps for the release of his third studio album titled This Is What I Mean. With the singles he’s dropped so far it looks like Big Mike is ready to deliver us an album of the highest quality. We thought we’d take you through a little journey of Stormzy’s career to highlight 11 essential Stormzy tunes you can’t live without.

Stormzy – “Know Me From

When Stormzy released “Know Me From” everyone was spinning it. The bars and visuals are so simple yet so effective. This tune really allowed Stormzy to shine like the bright light he was destined to be. We even get a legendary appearance from Mumma Stormzy in the video to put the cherry on top of the cake.

Stormzy – “One Take Freestyle

When Stormzy went off on this beat, it seemed like every other rapper wanted to take a turn too. The aggression in his delivery and the vicious bars he let off was on another level. He also took a huge stand against the Brits for not making the right nominations that year which was a big deal at the time and had everyone talking. This is what happens when your words truly hold weight.

Stormzy – “Wiley Flow

Stormzy samples Wiley’s voice and uses his flow at times to pay homage to the godfather of Grime. With this cold record, Stormzy emphasizes that even though he blew up and is a household name now, He will never forget where he came from and those who paved the way for him.

Stormzy – “Disappointed

From paying homage to dropping diss tracks. This Stormzy & Wiley clash was shocking to see! Even though Stormzy intended to pay homage to Wiley with “Wiley Flow” Wiley didn’t see it that way. Instead, he took it as Stormzy trying to use him for a moment.

When Wiley sent for Stormzy first many didn’t believe he’d reply, but when he did we certainly were not left disappointed.

Stormzy – “Big For Your Boots

This banger can take you from 0 to 100 real quick. The hook is infectious, and the cadence Stormzy uses for his verses is incredible. This one is for the energy crew, and there can be no doubt that if you go to a Stormzy show “Big For Your Boots” has to be near the top of the list of songs you want big Mike to perform.

Stormzy Ft Burna Boy & Ed Sheeran – “Own It

Even though he came into the game Grime-heavy, to expand his horizons and get to the next level, Stormzy tried out some new sounds and dipped his toe into other genres. In doing so, he made one of his biggest hit songs “Own It”. This will forever be a mood.

The flavours burst out at you with the beat and Stormzy wonderfully rides it to deliver a lovely verse, and Ed Sheeran brings a different element to the track too. This trio was always going to be a recipe for brilliance.

Stormzy – “Vossi Bop

“Vossi Bop” is an amazing, fun tune that became a viral sensation. The visuals are unforgettable, as the transitions in the edits and the different angles used were so unique. TikTok creators had the time of their lives when this dropped. The smooth yet intoxicating beat matched very Stormzy’s brilliant rhyme scheme, and his cool approach to the track was a match made in music heaven!

Stormzy – “Blinded By Your Grace, Pt.1

This song showed that there’s really nothing Stormzy can’t do. He goes into the gospel lane and sings an almost personal conversation-like song with God for all his fans to take in. You can tell that every word he sings come straight from his heart. “Blinded By Your Grace, Pt.1” is beautiful in so many ways and exhibits yet another layer of Stormzy that we didn’t know he had.

Stormzy – “Lay Me Bare

“Lay Me Bare” may just be Stormzy’s most vulnerable track to date. The emotion pouring out of his lyrics is eye-opening. He’s essentially asking the lord for strength while he battles through dark mental health issues. This song cuts deep because it shows that no matter how much success and money you get. If you never find true happiness from within, it means very little in the end.

Stormzy – “Mel Made Me Do It

“Mel Made Me Do It” was a culturally shifting moment. In mini-movie-type visuals filled with box office appearances left, right, and centre. Stormzy reminds everyone why he’s always been one of the coldest in the game, and why no one can ever try to play with his name.

This song is a work of art. From the symbolism of scenes in the video, to the variation of flows Stormzy utlises to the substance he carries out with his bars. You can’t take your eyes off the “Mel Made Me Do It” video for one second. What Stormzy did here may never be replicated again.

Stormzy – Shut Up

The word legendary is often loosely thrown around these days. However, It’s very fitting to use when we’re talking about Stormzy’s “Shut Up” Freestyle. Stormzy blew up like crazy after this moment and never looked back.

Coming 100% raw, Stormzy rolled up with his boys to the park to effortlessly spray some hard-hitting and cheeky bars straight down the lens of the camera. No matter how many new great songs Stormzy continues to create. His name will always be synonymous with his classic “Shut Up” Freestyle.

Whenever Stormzy comes out, the energy in the scene shifts. He’s a force to be reckoned with, and there’s no one out there like him. Make sure you take in his brand-new album “This Is What I Mean” below here at GRM Daily!
