Outside of musical achievements, a place on the coveted Forbes lists is always a sought after marker from all artists.
This week they announced their 2017 Hip-Hop Cash Prince list, which rounds up the most likely young artists to make some serious p in the coming year.
Stormzy has made a thoroughly deserved appearance on the list, the only UK artist to make the cut, proving just how far he’s come since the fire in the park days. It’s also his second appearance on a Forbes list, having made the 30 Under 30 earlier this year.
He’s joined on the roster by Bryson Tiller, Lil Yachty, Lil Uzi Vert, Tory Lanez, Desiigner, Young M.A., Isaiah Rashad, D.R.A.M. and Noname.
Little Simz was a member of the judging panel after her Forbes cosign last year and she was on hand to vouch for Stormzy. She said, “He is an inspiration to many and there no limitations on how far he will take it, because he’s doing this on his own terms.”
Other judges on the panel were veteran West Coast rapper Too Short, Kendrick Lamar’s manager Dave Free and Forbes staff member Natalie Robehmed.
Congratulations Stormzy and here’s hoping he can claim the top spot when the charts are announced later today.
