Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag and his squad are facing the prospect of pay cuts after failing to secure a top-four finish and Champions League qualification, according to talkSPORT.
Under the terms of Ten Hag’s contract, his wages could be reduced by up to 25% due to the team’s failure to meet the target. This move is part of an effort to make success or failure on the pitch a collective responsibility, impacting the majority of the squad financially.
Furthermore, should Manchester United decide to part ways with Ten Hag at the end of the season, the reduced compensation package tied to the missed targets could come into play.
The Red Devils currently languish in seventh place in the Premier League, 16 points adrift of fourth-placed Aston Villa. Despite their struggles in the league, Ten Hag has led the team to consecutive FA Cup finals and clinched the Carabao Cup last season.
However, their recent performance in the FA Cup semi-final against Coventry, where they squandered a 3-0 lead before securing victory on penalties, has intensified scrutiny on the Dutch manager.
