Chip – Light Work
Last week, in a much-talked about series of dubs, Chip had Bugzy Malone in his sights once again and had fans up in arms about who’s coming off as the victor in this battle. The Munk certainly staked his claim by releasing, not one, not two, but THREE tracks taking shots at the Manchester MC. The first of these was “Light Work”, which acted as somewhat of a warm-up and had punchline disses for days. Plus, Chip proved he’s a psychic, by predicting Bugzy Malone’s Rated Award win.
Ed Sheeran – Say It (Tory Lanez cover)
Ed Sheeran may have morphed into an international mega-star, but his come up has firm roots in the urban scene and he still shows off his affinity for it every now and again. Thankfully this week was one of those times, as he released a brand new recording of his cover of Toronto singer/MC Tory Lanez’ “Say It”. It’s still got an acoustic edge, but those skittering snares keep it distinctly urban.
Danny Seth – T.I.O.T.E. (ft. Collard)
This week Danny Seth finally unleashed his long-awaited album ‘Perception’ onto the web, for the bargain price of Free 99. The Watford born rapper really shone on album standout “T.I.O.T.E.”, which has Danny mastering his nasal flow over some airy and grandiose production. He’s certainly one making sure the British are coming in the States.
AJ Tracey – Trapsuit
If you aren’t familiar with AJ Tracey by now, then get to know. The Tottenham-born MC has tracks that are Grime, tracks that are Trap and is truly a blossoming master of anything 140bpm. His latest track “Trapsuit” has him working his flow across some hard production and his lyrics have enough reload material in them to shell down pirate radio.
Little Simz – Dead Body Part 2+3 (ft. Stormzy & Kano)
As if Little Simz’ “Dead Body” wasn’t electrifying enough, it’s now got one of the biggest remixes in recent memory. King Simbi unites fellow forerunner Stormzy with the legacy that is Kano, who both deliver killer 16’s over the industrial-esque production. Hear the remix below and remember to check out Simz performing the original version of “Dead Body” at the Rated Awards here.
The Heavytrackerz – Doing What We Do (Splurgeboyz Dub)
Everyone loves a good producer war. A new one is in the making as Splurgeboys dropped out of their Lord Of The Mics 7 clash with The Heavytrackerz, who didn’t take too kindly to the dip. They have now released a dub for the Splurgeboys, even dropping some lyrics too.
Avelino – M.O.E. (Remix ft. MoStack & Haile)
As if Avelino wasn’t wavy enough on his own, he enlists a couple of other New Gen G’s for the remix to his latest tune “M.O.E.”. It features some money-making bars from MoStack and a sung intro from WSTRN’s Haile, who is just in his zone as always. Money over everything; now that’s something we can certify.
