After being closed in line with the government’s COVID-19 guidance, Merlin Entertainment have announced the date that Thorpe Park, Alton Towers and Chessington World of Adventures will reopen.

In a message posted to their website, Thorpe Park said, “We’re getting ready to welcome you back! The health and safety of our guests and staff is always our number one priority and to keep everyone safe, we’ll be introducing a number of additional hygiene and safety measures which you’ll see in place when the Resort reopens.”

“We are determined to be here for you, your friends and your families, offering other worldly thrills and helping you create fantastic memories, as we have done for decades and will continue to do for many more. In line with current Government guidance, we are hoping to be able to reopen the Resort on the 4th July 2020.”

In a FAQ section, they provide a quick glimpse of what theme parks will look like post-lockdown.

Contactless payments, face masks, reduced capacity and non-contact temperature checks are just a few of the measures which will be implemented when the parks reopen.

The news follows the re-opening of McDonald’s and other restaurants. Boris Johnson also recently
announced that non-essential retail stores will re-open on the 15th of June.
