Twitter is finally one step closer to allowing users to edit tweets.

The social media giant is testing a new feature that would allow users to “undo” and unsend a Tweet before it is live.

A spokesperson for Twitter told Reuters that the feature is being tested as part of Twitter’s new move into paid-for subscription content.

The feature is likely to only be offered to the elite Twitter users who pay the necessary fees.

Twitter said this week, “Over the course of this year, you’ll see us test subscription products in public. You’ll hear more about them. And hopefully, you’ll see some of these products roll out as well.”

Many Twitter users will instead be wanting to see an edit tweet button. Past comments by Twitter’s CEO Jack Dorsey make this unlikely but things may have changed.

Jack told Wired in 2020, “The reason there’s no edit button and there hasn’t been an edit button traditionally is we started as an SMS text messaging service so as you all know, when you send a text, you can’t really take it back. We wanted to preserve that vibe and that feeling in the early days.”

In other social media news, Facebook has launched a new rap platform called Bars.

Bars lets users create and post raps using built-in software. Videos must be 60 seconds or shorter.
