Uber, favourite taxi firm for practically anyone who can use a phone. Your trusty pal on a night out, always there when you need them.
But apparently, your pal is cheating you. In a creepy revelation, the taxi app has let slip that its technology knows when your phone battery is running low. The company claims that the app uses the low battery info to go into energy saving mode, but suspicions are that the weird technique exists to get Uber yet more money, as they can implement surge pricing to exploit your desperation to get in a cab. Peak.
Keith Chen, Uber’s head of economic research, strongly denies this. He stated, “We absolutely don’t use that to kind of like push you a higher surge price, but it’s an interesting kind of psychological fact of human behaviour.”
Sure Keith. Sure.
The brand is slightly starting to redeem itself from it’s evil money making schemes with the addition of Ubereats, which is beginning to spread across London.
