Serving Metropolitan Police officer Wayne Couzens has been charged with kidnapping and murdering Sarah Everard.

Ms Everard disappeared while walking home from a friend’s house in Clapham, south London last week (March 3rd).

Two days ago, police found a body in a woodland area in Ashford, Kent which was officially identified as Sarah Everard today.

48-year-old Couzens was arrested in Kent on Tuesday (March 9) on suspicion of kidnap in connection to Sarah’s disappearance, and was further arrested on suspicion of murder and a separate allegation of indecent exposure.

He is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (March 13).

A woman in her 30s, who was at the same property as the officer in Kent, was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and has been been released on bail. She’s set to return to a police station in mid-April.

Assistant Commissioner Nick Ephgrave said “specialist officers remain in constant contact with Sarah’s family, and will continue to support them throughout the investigation and beyond.”
